Centre Launches Ground-breaking Service

The Group Therapy Centre has been commissioned to develop and run support groups under the national Incresaed Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) inititiative. The support groups are based on the Centre's 13-week Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) programme developed  in 2005, and which has since treated hundreds of patients with depression and anxiety.

Cambridgeshire Primary Care Trust (PCT) commissioned the Centre in recognition of the organisation's long-standing track record in providing safe, effective and affordable psychological therapies in group formats. The CBT support group programme is believed to be the first of its kind in the UK and will treat 16 people a week in three-monthly cycles starting in April 2010. 

Patients interested in joining the programme should contact their GP and ask to be referred to the IAPT Assessment Team at Aucland Road Clinic in Cambridge.

13-week CBT programme is big hit with patients

With one in four people predicted to suffer with mental health problems, the Group Therapy Centre is the first mental health charity in the UK to develop and roll-out a unique 13-week Group Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (GCBT) programme.
