Centre Launches Ground-breaking Service
Posted: Mon 8th March 2010 11.25AMThe Group Therapy Centre has been commissioned to develop and run support groups under the national Increased Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) inititiative. The support groups are based on the Centre's 13-week Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) programme developed in 2005, and which has successfully treated hundreds of patients with mixed depression and anxiety.
Cambridgeshire Primary Care Trust (PCT) commissioned the Centre in recognition of the organisation's long-standing track record in providing safe, effective and affordable psychological therapies in group formats. The CBT support group programme is believed to be the first of its kind in the UK and will treat up to 16 people a week in three-monthly cycles starting in April 2010.
How to access the Programme
Patients interested in joining the programme should their visit GP and ask to be referred to the IAPT Assessment Team at Auckland Road Clinic in Cambridge. We will then receive your details and contact you with more information about the groups, including dates and times. We regret that we cannot accept self-referrals.
